A Darwin magistrate wasn't in the mood for nonsense this morning, when he gave a 25yo woman pleading guilty on three traffic offences a dressing down.
The woman was charged with Fail To Comply Police Direction - Breath, Drive Without P Plates Displayed, Drive Medium Range Blood Alcohol Content.
Representing herself and supported by two similar aged women in the court room, the judge appeared to disbelieve the woman's story on why she was driving.
He said: "What does one do when going to pick up their sister from work, but go to the pub drinking.
"I do not believe you.
"I find the most serious offence being failure to comply with a police direction."
The woman reportedly did a u-turn to avoid an RBT unit on Roystonea Drive.
With a clean record, she was still convicted across all three charges and fined $880.
A minimum penalty of six months disqualification from driving was not applied, instead giving her 12 months.
The judge concluded: "You're looking at the risk of imprisonment if you're caught driving."
