Mona Lisa *Not* Smiling: Alleged random stabber Mona Lisa Leemans a picture of ignorance before Darwin local court, for incident dubbed Parap’s Westfield

The alleged perpetrator of a stabbing incident partly livestreamed by The Mango Inquirer last Thursday has come before Darwin local court this afternoon, with the defendant calling-out to the judge for bail "to Katherine".

Speaking-out at the end of her brief appearance before judge Ben O'Loughlin, the judge replied: "I wouldn't give you bail even if asked."

The defence barrister appearing for Leemans told the judge from the outset that he was not seeking bail, but was looking to have the matter put into the "mental health listings" and brought up "involuntary commitment" .

He also requested a "Chief Health Officer assessment" for his client as a matter of the "highest priority", citing her age of 19 in his reasoning.

The judge read through a number of files in the court system unrelated to Thursday's incident, citing the existence of "49 files".

It was unclear from Mango's reading of the court hearing whether any of the files were unresolved matters before the court, or whether the files were historical; limited to adult offending, or younger.

The charges laid by police last week included three counts of aggravated assault and going armed in public.

In a media release last week the charges against Leemans were described by NT police as a "random attack" with a pair of scissors against three victims, lasting at least 20 minutes.

The Mango Inquirer has previously posted what we observed ourselves, and heard other passengers on the bus say, prior to getting off and following the woman.

It was our assessment that there were other alleged victims who had not spoken to police yet.

In their media release on Friday, police requested "Members of the public get in contact on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The release also read: "At around 6:15pm, police received multiple reports of the woman pursuing individuals with scissors and attacking them.

"Three victims suffered injuries during the incident. A woman in her 60s was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital by St John Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. A 70-year-old man and a 27-year-old man suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

"CCTV operators monitored the situation in real time, enabling police to quickly locate and arrest the offender nearby. She was taken into custody and transported to Palmerston Watch House, where she has since been charged with 3 counts of Aggravated assault and one count of Going armed in public."
