A former tenant of Coolalinga Tourist Park in Darwin’s rural area has reached out to The Mango Inquirer after a medical professional recently suggested she “take the matter further” with regards to an injury suffered by an allegedly poorly protected star picket at a site she rented earlier this year.
The mother wrote to Mango: “We moved in there in March because we couldn’t afford rent. They evicted us in May.”
“I impaled myself on a star picket. Tripped backwards onto it. Straight up my vagina. The cap was broken.”

She alleges the eviction notice was due to failing to pay a bond.
“We were only there for three months. I met someone in the park that has been there for 18 months and never paid bond, or been asked to.”
We contacted Anne from Coolalinga Tourist Park to hear her side of the tenancy agreement, and what went wrong.
Anne told us: “These people were staying at the park and never reported this incident until a couple of days ago.
“They were asked to leave as they [allegedly] accused people in the park of stealing their speaker, only for us to [allegedly] learn that their son had come into the park around 3 in the morning (no visitors after 9pm is the rule) and ‘borrowed’ the said speaker.
“They were all being lovely and friendly to us until we said your goin to move out, as they had already had about 4 warnings regarding their dog, then the thieving accusations.”

“They seemed like nice people, but if we don’t enforce the rules and regulations with pets and visitors, everyone will be doing what they like.
Through email correspondence read by this publication, Anne from Coolalinga Tourist Park appeared to take a level of responsibility for the former tenant’s injury, and offered to “wipe” a $750 debt she allegedly owes.
Anne told Mango: “I have offered them to wipe their debt (rent outstanding) but they have asked for $25k.
“As I have said, I have referred it to solicitors, as I find it all too stressful.”
The former tenant of Coolalinga Tourist Park said she is currently undergoing surgery, some four months after the alleged incident.
This masthead has reviewed 39 pages in relation to hospital admittance and medical treatment of her injury.

It isn’t the first time Coolalinga Tourist Park has appeared with regards to a tenant complaint in The Mango Inquirer.
Back in July 2024, we published a story titled: “Tractor Terrorism! Coolalinga Caravan Park owner charges at guests during Bobcat bedlam.”
In email correspondence reviewed by The Mango Inquirer, a request for information about the park’s public liability insurance was requested by the former tenant, along with a settlement request of $15k to $20k.
The tenant has emailed her invoice for rent paid during her family’s stay, and still believes she does not owe any rent.
Both parties in the matter have advised they’re seeking legal advice.
This publication is not taking a position outside the reported aspects of this story, but as the tenant is in a far less advantageous position with regards to finances, we’re prepared to pass on the details of any members from the Darwin legal fraternity reading this, and considering this case as a pro-bono or a no-win/no-pay situation.
The former tenant has advised in email correspondence to the park that they have legal representation and have not requested we do this.
We’re just reading the tea leaves and thought to make that offer here anyway.
We are The Mango Inquirer.
