‘Unshackle the police’: As a car in Woodroffe burns overnight, Facebook users turn to independent Mark Turner for solutions

Former Labor politician Mark Turner, now running as an independent in the August Territory election has been tagged by constituents in a Woodroffe community post overnight, where he's called to "unshackle" the police.

Witnesses on the Woodroffe Community Facebook page described how a small car on Sibbald crescent was set on fire after allegedly being "rammed" and "smashed" by the occupants of a dumped landcruiser.

While Turner shared that he was at ice hockey with his kids, CLP candidate Matt Kearle got to the scene and livestreamed a political video, describing what he called: "the consequences of the lawlessness of this government".

One commenter posted: "How many pieces of legislation has an independent ever got through parliament that could fix this?

"They can write all the private members bills in the world but without numbers it’s useless."

It's unclear what Labor Candidate for Blain Dani Eveleigh was up to overnight, but she didn't appear to be on Facebook.
