Sadgroves crescent man allegedly secreted & hardwired GPS tracker with listening device to woman’s car

A secreted and hardwired electronic GPS tracker with listening device capabilities have been found by police on a woman’s car on Monday.

Serious crime detectives re-arrested 42-year-old Immanuel Pastrikos who was out on bail, with additional charges relating to the electronic surveillance of a woman.

Earlier this year in March, police investigations were initiated after a woman reported suspicious behaviour from a man who was known to her.

He was arrested and bailed in relation to stalking offences.

Earlier this week detectives examined the woman’s vehicle after receiving further information.

Police say: “The examination located a secreted and hardwired electronic GPS tracker with listening device capabilities and the ability to transmit real time data.

Detectives attended Pastrikos’ residence where a number of unused GPS tracking devices, trail cameras, mobile phones and tablets were seized.

Also located were two firearms and unsecured ammunition.

Pastrikos was arrested and charged with ‘Attempt to pervert the course of justice, Install/use/maintain listening device, Recklessly endangering serious harm, Interfere with vehicle, Possess/use firearm whilst unlicensed, Fail to meet storage requirements’

He was remanded to appear in Darwin local court this afternoon, where his bail application was heard.

While talking about the investigation, Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Trent Abbott said in a statement: “This was incredibly invasive and traumatising offending from this individual.

“Crime detectives will allege that the device used also has the capability of remotely shutting down a vehicle without the drivers input, something that could have potentially deadly consequences.

“Our investigators are continuing to comb through devices seized from the location to ascertain if there were further victims to this despicable behaviour.”

During Pastrikos’ appearance in Darwin local court this afternoon, his defence lawyer successfully applied for bail with electronic monitoring and an exclusion zone at Howard Springs.

Pastrikos’ lawyer highlighted the re-arrest was related to an alleged offence that occurred prior to his arrest in March, and therefore didn’t necessarily involve a breach of bail.

The prosecution alleged an attempt was made by Patrikos to electronically erase the device’s data, since his release.
