A man holding up traffic with a knife, "threatening himself and others" has been tasered by NT Police on Mitchell Street tonight at about 8pm.
The incident comes after a woman reportedly committed suicide with a glass bottle, according to security industry insiders, near Coles Liqorland at Casuarina two weeks ago.
Our source wrote: "Police turned up and he motioned to cutting his throat.
"Legend copper announced several times to drop the knife and when he didn’t, he marched straight in and tasered him.
"Brilliant police work. Took charge and stopped any chance of people getting hurt ."
In elaborating with more detail, our witness further shared: "He was making stabbing motions to his own chest, whilst the security guards where keeping him at bay.
"When coppers turned up he then made the classic sweeping knife across the throat action.
"I took this as don’t come near me, or I will end it. Coppers marched in warned him to drop it and when saw he was raising it again tasered him.
"He dropped and they disarmed him. It was pretty bloody impressive from the copper.
"I'm from Katherine so don’t know if he’s a regular[on Mitchell street] and yes security was trying to keep him away from customers and pedestrians.
"Definitely looked like a longrasser."
No videos nor other reports received yet, though witness account suggests the incident was recorded on multiple smartphones.
