A very credible source has contacted The Mango Inquirer with information that a recently convicted unlicensed driver is still at it, despite a warning by Judge Fong-Lim this week that he faces a term of imprisonment if caught.
Former South Australian Justin Westerman self-represented at Darwin local court on a minor speeding charge and driving while unlicensed.
He was caught doing 81km/hr in a 60 zone on the Stuart Highway, Stuart Park in May.
Judge Fong-Lim asked: “Mr Westerman. You have never held a license. Why do you think you can drive on our roads?”
She said: “You’ll be convicted and fined $1,000. Victims levy of $300 and [inaudible] disqualification.
“If you are found to be driving at all, you will face a term of imprisonment.”
Maroon Lexus has fines totalling over $10,000.
Westerman’s ongoing alleged actions are likely to take up more police time following this up, when they could be doing more important things.
Our source told Mango in-person: “I walked past the cop shop this afternoon, and almost went in.”
We agreed to keep certain circumstances confidential, to protect their identity.
Mango’s first thought during the court proceedings was: “bikie?” but our online perusals have revealed only a liking of the Commanchero’s; not necessarily active membership.
I don’t mean to pry, but there must be a medical issue preventing this fella from getting licensed.
Can’t understand how or why someone would want to deal with this drama at 50 years of age.
Surely it’s more than just laziness.
Come on Westy; you’re officially on notice brother.
